Friday night at Newberry Elks Lodge means one thing to locals: all-you-can-eat whitefish. Reviewers rave about it consistently, and with a 4.8-star rating from members and guests alike, the reputation is well earned. Pull up a chair at the salad bar, load your plate, and settle in for the kind of meal that keeps people coming back week after week.

Beyond the dining room, the Lodge is the social backbone of Newberry, Michigan, a small Upper Peninsula town where community ties run deep. Members gather here for charity fundraisers, holiday banquets, and the kind of casual evenings where good conversation outlasts the last round. The building on 109 Newberry Ave has hosted generations of families, veterans, and neighbors who know that belonging to something larger than yourself matters.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has championed community service since 1868, and this chapter carries that tradition forward with genuine local investment. Every event, every meal, and every dollar raised stays connected to the people of the Upper Peninsula.

What We Offer

The Lodge delivers a rotating calendar of events that give members and guests real reasons to show up. The signature whitefish dinner draws crowds every week, served all-you-can-eat with a full salad bar that rounds out the meal perfectly. Special banquets and holiday dinners expand the menu and the guest list throughout the year.

Beyond food, the Lodge hosts private event rentals for celebrations, meetings, and organizational gatherings. The bar offers a comfortable, no-pretense atmosphere for members to unwind after work or catch a game. Community fundraisers, youth programs, and scholarship initiatives give members meaningful ways to give back to Newberry and the surrounding Upper Peninsula region.

"We went to the Friday night fish fry. We had fresh whitefish. Mine was broiled & my husband’s was deep fried. We both got half orders, that included 2 pieces of fish, along with a choice of potatoes & salad bar. The private club can’t sell alcohol to non- members, so we couldn’t have a beer. Nothing was “gourmet, but everything was good. Our waitress was friendly and attentive."

"Very nice facility with friendly waitstaff! Good COLD beer too! The porterhouse steak had WAY TOO MUCH PEPPER on it for me to eat it! I've never not been able to eat s steak I ordered until tonight! Fifteen minutes later and my mouth is still burning! Order without the seaoning, and I'm sure you'll love it!"

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
